Revealed: Audacious plan to hold F1 Grand Prix in London's Olympic Stadium
An audacious plan to hold a Formula One Grand Prix in and around Stratford’s Olympic Park has been pitched to the mayor of London, rivalling a separate bid to host a race in the Docklands.

Reports of the Docklands plan surfaced earlier this week after the owners of Silverstone triggered a break clause in their contract with F1, casting doubt over the future of the British Grand Prix.

Now City A.M. can reveal that more than one attempt is being made to bring F1 to the capital.

Under a rival plan, cars would race into and then out of the Olympic Stadium in east London as part of a huge seven-day festival featuring concerts and other performances centred around the event. The proposal, a copy of which has been obtained by City A.M., boasts that up to a million people could attend the festival.

How much would it cost E20 to make this happen?

If you want the level of excitement of F1 you could go and watch the traffic on the M11

The stadium is nowhere near big enough for an oval which could accommodate F1 cars.

Actually an Oval Indy car type track in the LS and then out on the streets and back in the Stadium could be quite a spectacle

I guess our stadium is no less suited to F1 than it is to football, so yeah why not!

In and around the Olympic park is probably the only place in London where a Grand Prix could be realistically and logistically hosted although there would be outrageous costs remodelling loads of the park to turn it into something resembling a track.

It should stay at silverstone though. Really hope they come to some agreement to do so.

The silvertown plan seems more likely. the road theyre suggesting within the olympic park are too narrow to have a proper race down.

the route would be north out of the stadium onto waterden road, a hairpin west onto the A12, down to stratford high street, left onto carpenters road, another hairpin onto the loop road back to the stadium.
